DOWNSIZING PRESENTATION SET FOR 12/2 AT WATER’S EDGE LIGHTHOUSE RESTAURANT

DOWNSIZING PRESENTATION SET FOR 12/2 AT WATER’S EDGE LIGHTHOUSE RESTAURANT

GLENVILLE, NY (November 17, 2014) — The Meadows at Glenwyck, a 110-unit independent living community in Glenville designed for those 55+ who want to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle without all the hassles of home ownership, will host a “Downsizing for Seniors” presentation on Tuesday, Dec. 2 from noon-1:30 p.m.

Held at the Water's Edge Lighthouse Restaurant & Inn (2 Freeman's Bridge Road, Glenville), the talk is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Please call (518) 874-1638 to reserve a seat. Lunch will be served.

Helen Volk, founder and president of “Beyond Clutter,” will present. Volk will cover topics such as starting the downsizing process, learning how to deal with a life of sentimental items and donating unwanted items. The session will also feature an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about The Meadows at Glenwyck, which is slated to open in the spring.

“Downsizing can be a daunting and time-consuming process because there’s a lot of decision making involved,” said Summit Senior Living, LLC Principal Adam DeSantis. “We encourage those considering moving to an independent living community to begin the process up to a year in advance because in addition to putting a house on the market there are many possessions that need to be sorted through.”

Volk is a certified teacher, author, motivational speaker and licensed attorney who practiced law for 17 years before founding Beyond Clutter in 1991. A former pack rat, Volk now lives clutter-free and her story of transition serves as an inspiration to her students and clients. Volk has authored eight de-clutter books, including Downsizing for Seniors.

SUMMIT SENIOR LIVING, LLC TO OPEN “THE MEADOWS AT GLENWYCK” BY SPRING 2015

110-Unit Independent Living Community in Glenville Will Expand Region’s Senior Housing Options

GLENVILLE, NY (July 15, 2014) — In a move designed to provide greater choice to Capital Region seniors seeking independent housing, Summit Senior Living, LLC today announced plans to construct a 110-unit rental complex called The Meadows at Glenwyck near the intersection of Dutch Meadows Lane and Route 50 (just behind Walmart) in Glenville.

The three-story apartment project, which is already underway, will be situated on nine acres and will comprise one building with an integrated clubhouse featuring an indoor pool and hot tub, sauna, fitness center, full-service salon, tavern, movie theater and a variety of other recreational areas.

A construction launch event for local dignitaries, town officials, representatives from Summit Senior Living, LLC and members of the media will be held at the site at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15.

“Glenville, Scotia and Schenectady are underserved markets in terms of budget-friendly housing options for those over 55,” said Summit Senior Living, LLC Principal Adam DeSantis. “This community will give seniors tremendous value for their money as there are no entrance fees. Included in each month’s rental fees is access to our Senior Engaged Life (SEL) program, which allows residents to remain active in mind, body and spirit as they enjoy everything from regular speakers and outings to Pilates and cooking classes.”

“The Meadows at Glenwyck is breaking ground where all good things emanate — the 112th Assembly District,” added Assemblyman Jim Tedisco (R,C,I-Glenville). “These new senior apartments will provide seniors in Glenville and the 112th Assembly District with a great place to live and call home and access to a range of services and activities to stay involved and enjoy their golden years.”

Once completed in spring 2015, The Meadows at Glenwyck will offer superior, age-restricted, independent living rental apartments. The facility will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 715 to 1,065 square feet. Finishes will include upscale carpeting and floor tile, granite countertops, balconies/patios for all apartments, full-size washers and dryers in each apartment, central air conditioning and 24-hour emergency services through an emergency call and fire detection system.

Rents will also include cable television and Internet service, water, sewer, trash and full access to the SEL services featuring links and referrals to community service providers, educational programs, health and wellness activities, recreational events, finance/legal resources, social opportunities, transportation services for shopping and medical visits, as well as a daily continental breakfast.

“We believe that Capital Region seniors who enjoy an active lifestyle will be attracted to The Meadows at Glenwyck,” said DeSantis, whose company’s inaugural project, the 144-unit Eastwyck Village, opened in July 2011. “This facility is within minutes of an array of retail conveniences including major grocery and big box outlets. The site is also approximately three miles from downtown Schenectady for those who enjoy the theater and fine dining.”
